Seeds

Anomaly

When any living being moves closer than a meter, seeds start to follow this target, exploding when touched (or shot). They are slow and don't move over long ranges, but you have to watch your steps carefully.

Notes

Description

The seed anomaly is a ball shaped entity that has protruding spikes with a red glowing core. Seed serves as a kind of natural landmine around certain areas of the maps, but can most commonly be in forest areas of the map. Balls are triggered when movement is sensed about a meter away from any seed, at which point all other seeds in the area will converge on the movement, following the player for some distance. It is stated that they do not travel far from their original point, but this can sometimes be untrue from personal experiences (potential bug). On agro of the player, the seeds will emit a red hue around each of them, showing their position.

When the seeds reach the player, they explode on the player, dealing damage and staggering the player. The seeds can be destroyed by being shot or exploded. Do note that the electric ball does not destroy seeds if it is exploded, so don't bother trying it, it wont work. Seeds emit a kind of clicking sound when you are close by, allowing for the player to know where they are. It can be difficult to know exactly where a seed is, especially if it hides in shrubbery or obstructions, so the clicking sound they give out helps to their detection.

Appearance

The seeds appearance is meant to resemble that of a spiked mine as that is practically their function. They lay dormant, usually in plant life or on roads/paths as apart of a ? signal, as small and unnoticeable as they can. In this form, they are little more than spiky balls with a black exterior and a red interior. The best way to know they are there is by the clicking sound they emit. Its very distinct so you will know it when you see it, but its very easy to know you are nearby seeds when you hear them. When triggered, they expand their spikes to a few feet long, they float in the air about a meter, and drift towards you fairly slowly. They emit a red light that is very noticeable so it is easy to spot once they are triggered.

Tips & Tricks

There aren't many tips as to avoiding seeds, simply stay away from them. When they are triggered on you, its best to have a shotgun handy as its the easiest way to deal with them. You can deal with most of them with a few frag grenades, however if you can place your shots well, then you wont need to waste any grenades. they do work very well against seeds, but the opportunity cost of grenades against seeds vs distorted or turned is too high to waste.

+ When using a shotgun against seeds, you'll want to aim slightly higher than you normally would. This is due to the sights being slightly above their actual target, so aim just a few inches higher and you'll do just fine.

Running away from seeds is recommended if you have no need to be in the area and no other danger is around you. Seeds are far slower than running speed so getting far enough away from them will make them return to passive.
